Income-Based Spay/Neuter Assistance

Grant Programs

Spaying and neutering are essential to controlling pet overpopulation and giving animals healthier lives — but the cost can be a real barrier for many families. Our income-based grant programs help ease that burden so cost never stands between a pet and the care they need.

All grants are for owned pets only — not rescues or ferals. Each person must provide their own proof of eligibility.

Sand & Clay Project (Cats Only)

The Sand & Clay Project discounts spay/neuter surgery for both male and female cats. Animals must be current on rabies (one can be given at surgery for $10; a certificate, not a tag, is required as proof).

Eligibility: proof of government income assistance — EBT/SNAP/Food Stamps, Medicaid, or income-based disability. Limit of 3 cats per person, per month.

Also covered as needed: Advantage Multi, pre-surgical blood work (pets 6+), Capstar for active fleas, Convenia for wounds/infection, cryptorchid surgical charges, Droncit for tapeworms, ear cleaning and mite treatment, open hernia repair, and pregnancy charges. These are provided as medically needed and cannot be requested in advance.

The Gracie Project (Dogs Only)

The Gracie Project discounts spay/neuter surgery for both male and female dogs of all weights. Animals must be current on rabies (one can be given at surgery for $10; certificate required).

Eligibility: proof of government income assistance — EBT/SNAP/Food Stamps, Medicaid, SSDI, SSI, or Veteran status. No limit on the number of dogs per person.

The Gracie Project covers surgical spay/neuter costs only. All additional services, vaccinations, and testing (such as heat, pregnancy, hernia repair, cryptorchid, dewormer, flea treatment, or wound care) are at the owner's cost.

Pets for the Elderly (Cats & Dogs)

Pets for the Elderly discounts spay/neuter surgery, plus heartworm testing (dogs), FeLV/FIV testing (cats), and bloodwork, for pet owners age 60 and older.

Eligibility: proof of the owner's age via government-issued ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, military ID, or other legal ID showing name and age). No limit on the number of animals per person.
